Brenton Olander, CTO, Temporary CEO

Brenton Olander was the original founder of Software Directions and has over 15 years of software development experience. In addition to his responsibilities for Software Directions, he was until recently the Chief Scientist at Oplyst, Inc. a Silicon Valley startup, and was responsible for all final technical decisions as well as architecting, designing, and implementing the technologies crucial to their product line.

Brian Burger, CFO, VP Engineering

Brian Burger has created several database systems over the last 20 plus years, beginning with the early stages of a MAPPER like system for the AN/UYK-20(V) while at Sperry UNIVAC, and most recently architecting, designing, and contributing to the implementation of a high speed (20,000 transactions/second) custom database system for TriStrata Security, Inc.. While a consultant for IBM the he was the inventor of a language independent database API technology described in United States Patent 5,097,533, March 17, 1992, and titled “System and method for interfacing computer application programs written in different languages to a software system”. The work effort described above predominately requires an innovative approach to interfacing with database technology and applications.

Shabbir Khan, VP Marketing

Shabbir Khan is an industry veteran with 20 years experience in defining, analyzing, positioning, pricing, and marketing software and hardware products using state-of-the-art technologies including networked-storage, Internet security and database. During the last 3 years, he has completed multiple strategic marketing and business analysis projects for both early-stage companies and well-established market leaders in storage/data availability including Veritas and Network Appliance.

Prior to this, Shabbir founded Skylight Software, Inc., a software company focused on building client/server and web-based applications for customers including Hitachi, Charles Schwab, and 3COM. While working for Skylight, he also filed for two patents dealing with the metering of digital payloads and personal portable identity for signing digital documents. He brings a wealth of product marketing and software development experience, having held senior-level positions with many leading companies in the high-tech industry including Sun Microsystems, Novell, Borland, Tandem Computers and IBM.
